Why this POS is priced this way.
Revel was a tablet-first POS that competed in mid-market hospitality through the 2010s. Shift4 (a major payment processor) acquired Revel in 2024 and is consolidating it into SkyTab — Shift4's branded restaurant POS. The structural play is the same as Clover/Fiserv: payment processor uses POS as a customer-acquisition channel for payment processing. Pricing is quote-only because Shift4 sells the processing relationship more than the POS.
What first-time buyers miss.
Revel customers are mid-migration to SkyTab. New buyers should not specify 'Revel' — they'll get SkyTab. Pricing model is similar to Clover (processing-focused, opaque software pricing). Less aggressive lease structure than Clover but worth verifying.
Who this POS fits.
Existing Shift4 payment-processing customers expanding into POS. Restaurant buyers comfortable with quote-only pricing. Not for greenfield POS buyers who want pricing transparency.
